Apartment 8
Let me remind myself, so how long was it? I don't think it was too long ago, when we would all sit together and try to study. Ashray would teach something to Narendra and something to Mike. Sometimes, i felt like they understood him more than they understood their professors. In between, Narendra would raid the fridge and pour some soda on his glass. This might not be the first time he would do so. He would be the first person to suggest soda whenever we went to the grocery. He just loved soda.Period. On the other hand, it felt like Ashray loved teaching. May be he had so much knowledge that he wanted to share it with others. The compassion he had to share with others is second to none. There was never a no in his words. As if he didn't know the word, "No". Anytime whether it's day or night, if you had any problem you could go to him. No matter how his health was, he never shied away from helping others. I am not saying this because he is gone now- I would even say this if he was alive today. I always thought the best thing about Ashray was(and all the people in Apartment 8 will agree), he was extremely approachable. He would listen to anyone and everyone. You just had to say that you have a problem and he would listen to you. Always full of life and always enthusiastic...Going back to study, Matt would come out of his room, every ones in a while and wonder, why are these guys making so much of noise. You could sense from his expression that he wondered whether these guys were studying or chatting. And he was correct, coz Narendra's youtube would be making more noise than Ashray's teaching on the white board. Mike, on the other hand would be busy trying to grasp things that Ashray was teaching. In the meantime, he would also be wondering when Samip would come for dinner. Then there was Kamal, I think he is one of the best roommates one can ever have. No fuss, no nonsense. He would be happy in his own world(which was physics world by the way if you didn't know). It seemed like he ate, breathed and even dreamt physics. I have never seen anyone so dedicated in his studies as him. And then there was me, the one who would dedicat all his time in one thing...watching hindi movies. I guess I never watched as many movies as I did when I was in Apartment 8. Never ending series of Hindi Movies. And my frens that was apartment 8...
