I asked some of you guys earlier what you thought the five greatest things are to have come out of the web. I thought we could all post what we thought they were as well as give our reasons for what we choose.

Here is my list of 5 greatest things to come from the web.
1) Google
If it weren’t for Google the web would only be half as useful as it is. They have given us gmail, google earth, and also the google phone. Not to mention they now have their own version of an office suite that is for free use online.
2) Wikipedia
Wikipedia is the essence of what the web is meant to be. Everyone believed that the web would be a place where people would be able to post answers to every question possible, and it was, however it may have taken you hours to find it. Now Wikipedia has created a simple and clean way to search, access and add to that information.
3) E-commerce
This includes everything from Amazon, E-bay, Craig’s List and even iTunes. There is nothing you can’t purchase online, and I mean nothing. I once say a human soul on e-bay.
4) YouTube
It’s basically your television on steroids. Any clip from any movie or television is just a search away. It also acts as a great way to get information. Most of the answers to questions I’ve had for computer problems have come from YouTube.
5) Social Networking
Weather it is facebook or myspace, it has become the easiest way to keep in touch with friends. I don’t even use facebook but I understand how important it is to some people.
Here is my list
1. google.com and its accessories:
I use google probably two times more than rest of the internet sites combined. I use Gmail as primary email account. I fairly use google maps as well.
I think Google teaches a student more than one million professors combined.
2. ry.byu.edu & blackboard.byu.edu
I can't deny that these combined are the next most used webpage after google.com.
3. Wikipedia.org
Can't cite from it but definitely use it a lot to write papers and know other stuffs in general.
4. Youtube.com
No explanation. everybody knows why?
5. E-commerce websites(ebay, amazon)
BeCoz, no one wants to buy anything for more than half of what it's worth.
For me
1) Email sites- Email sites as yahoo and gmail. I guess whenever i open my computer, first of all I would like to check my emails and then move ahead
2)Google- Then i need to do my assignment and for that google is of great help. Not only for that but whatever, i want to look to i got to go to google.
3)youtube- While doing assignment, i need to listen to music. that's the must for me.other times i need to watch the videos as well
4)facebook-What a great way to connect to friends and family. No need for email and letters, just one comment on their wall and every relationship stays forever.
5) Byu.edu-especially blackboard. i am not a guy who loves assignments but due to compulsion I have to go to the blackboard and do my assignments. If it wasn't for web, I guess we would get less hw.
Web is great but most of the times it consumes my time rather than add productivity.
